Serious Photographers Wanted

Back in October 2011, I posted an article re: “serious photographers.” The article was actually about B&W but segued into a comment about what makes one a serious photographer. The three characteristics I listed (in keeping with Lee’s Rule of Threes) were:

  1. Constantly striving to improve.
  2. Open to feedback and critique.
  3. Always staying true to our vision.

In keeping with this philosophy, I’ve decided to drop all paid teaching programs and concentrate on my own fine art photography. This doesn’t mean I won’t take time to help others, just that I will be much more selective. My focus will be to produce fine art print for sale, for competition and for commission.

Past students will always have priority. If you have a question, feel free to send an e-mail. My response times may become longer as I won’t be constantly monitoring my Inbox for questions.

    Hi Lee!!
Glad to here you’re still around and taking photo’s that you love. I’m glad I was able to take a few webnars from you, you always taught me something. When I get to Arizona, I look forward to seeing what you have planned on photo shoots, but I won’t be there right away. Congratulations on your photo being picked, that’s awesome.

    Hi Lee-

I’m glad to hear that your gout is under control now, Lee. My personal drug of choice is theobromine, although the delivery vehicle will cause weight gain, albeit, deliciously. How lucky you are to move to Arizona, as it is a center point to the Southwest. Enjoy your new endeavors!

      Hi Andy,
Thanks, I had to Google theobromine. I may have to try that therapy!

One of the reasons we selected AZ was because of its central location. Just about every one of my favorite photoshoot sites is within 500 miles. You’ll have to join me on a shoot once I get set up.

Good luck on the art scene Lee, if you ever want to hook up for a bird shoot you know where to find me. I’ve enjoyed learning from you!

    • Lee

I’ll definitely continue to photograph birds expecially at places like Bosque del Apache or Cibola NWR. You might consider joining me next year in Nova Scotia for puffins. I’m also trying to figure out a way to drive the RV to Costa Rica but that may be a stretch.

As a teacher, being told that you enjoyed learning from me is the best compliment I can hope for. Thanks!

Will miss your interesting perspective on photography but totally understand that you must take the journey that fulfills you as an artist. Congrats on your acceptance into the exhibition. Your honor is well deserved as the photo is a beauty! Best wishes to you on your quest.

      Thanks Karen,
I’ll continue to post from time to time but plan to avoid the time suck that maintaining this site has become. Thanks for reading and the compliment.

I’m sorry to hear that you won’t be teaching. I should have taken a class. I really appreciated your helpful comments on the meet up shoot photos at the Lighthouse.
