More Grandkids!

It’s Hot in Arizona

We’re were at our place in Wickenburg, AZ to plan a major remodel with our contractor. It was about 110F and the RV A/C is pumping its heart out to keep the interior temp around 85F.

On the back patio, the dove we saw last month was still on her nest. She’s no bird brain because the nest is in the shade, under the patio cover. It’s also beyond reach of most predators so she’s not worried.

I hope to see more “grandkids” when I’m there next time to check up on the progress of the remodel. Next time, I’ll take my stepladder so I can peek into the nest. Mama won’t like that but I hope she’ll forgive me one time. This photo was taken with a Canon 7D and 24-105/4.

Whole Lotta Shakin’ and Bakin’

Got back to California just in time for the first brush fire of the season, less than a mile from our house. To add to the excitement, an earthquake struck while CDF (California Dept of Forestry) and Sheriff’s helicopters were dumping water on the fire. It’s been an interesting Fourth.

The choppers were sucking up water from the golf course behind our place but, by the time I figured out what was happening, they had already sucked all the water out of the hazards near our house.

The photos were taken with a Canon 40D and 70-200/4 with a Canon 1.4 teleconverter. The action shots of the water drops were difficult to focus because of all the smoke. All the photos were cropped and adjusted in Lightroom 3.

This was more excitement than I needed. I need a nap.
