Photography Events at 2010 San Diego Fair

San Diego Photography Meetup Group
I’ve been posting my whereabouts on the SD Photo Meetup Group and Northern SD Photo Meetup Group sites and thought my students in the San Diego area might also enjoy knowing where I plan to be shooting. As always, current and former students are welcome to join me on any public shoots. There won’t be any formal instruction but you can always watch how I set up shots and ask what I’m doing. I find that it’s helpful for me to verbalize my thought process.
On Saturday, June 12 and Sunday, June 13, I’ll be at the San Luis Rey Mission in Oceanside for the 14the Annual Inter-Tribal PowWow. This is a BIG powwow with an estimated 7000 attendees. It will be a target rich environment for photographers. Here are some photos I made at the Pala and Barona Powwows last year.

Close but No Cigar
Once again, not all of my entries were accepted for the San Diego Fair. This year, 4 of 5 entries were accepted and the fifth was rejected. See if you agree with the judges. Here are my entries. Post your guess as to which was rejected in the comments section (below).
On the other hand, the number of entries were up slightly from last year. I believe there were 4000 entries this year, up from 3800 last year. About 1/3 were accepted so I guess I’m ahead of the odds. Based on random chance, only 1 or 2 would have been accepted. Of course, being accepted is just the beginning. Now, I wait until June 11 for the results. Someday, I’d like to think I may be in the running for Best of Show.
